Texas Grown Jasmine
HG Rice Mill is family owned and operated by Ben and Debbie Hoffpauir of Markham, Texas. Ben’s a 4th Generation rice farmer whose roots trace back to the Katy Prairie and Debbie is an 8th generation farmer from Kansas where her family specialty was growing wheat and managing cattle. Ben and Debbie have built and operated grain dryers since 2008 under the name Hoffpauir Grain LLC. In 2021 we planted our first test plot of Jasmine rice and purchased a small single pass mill. After harvest we began milling and handing it out samples of our product. In January 2022, after all the interest in fresh milled rice, we ordered a larger two pass mill along with other equipment and installed it ourselves. We’re currently milling and selling our Texas Grown Jasmine. As of April 2023, we have 200 acres of Jasmine rice growing that will be ready for harvest at the end of July. After harvest we dry, store, and mill at the same location. HG Rice Mill offers traceability and no commingling of different rice varieties and the ability to show the field which it was harvested from. We also partner with Ducks Unlimited to make habitat for ducks and Geese that winter in south Texas. We strive to bring our customers high quality, freshly milled Jasmine rice. All our rice is run through a color sorter to remove foreign materials and off colored kernels for the best appearance possible.
